The Ontario Association of Architectures believes communities across Canada can improve with buildings that are designed better.
Wanting a national conversation on the issue, President John Stephenson adds most people don’t consider strong infrastructure on a daily basis.
Stephenson says a badly designed entrance can present barriers for people with disabilities and a poorly laid out city can make it difficult for people who want to walk or cycle.
Stephenson is pleased mayors in Quebec communities have come together, agreeing a policy is needed for higher design standards.
He says all governments should go down the path of creating strong, reliable and sustainable housing.
