Area Youth Come Together For Northern Cancer Fund

Northwestern Ontario youth have come up big to support the Northern Cancer Fund.

Nearly $36,000 was raised by kids aged 7 to 12, looking to play on Team Staal in the Fountain Tire Summer Classic road hockey game next month in Thunder Bay.

Spokesperson Lindsay Doran says this was the third year of the contest and some $112,000 has come in.

Doran says the kids continue to blow organizers away and stresses all money supports cancer care and programming in northwestern Ontario.

The three top fundraisers and two random participants will get to play with the Staal brothers and other NHL stars in the July 9th road hockey game.

Tristan Jaspers (Thunder Bay): $5,704
