The District Mental Health Services for Older Adults Program is offering “ASIST Training” in the community.
It stands for Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
Geriatric Mental Health Worker Nathalie Legros says it’s a workshop that gives participants a chance to explore their experiences with suicide and better understand the needs of a person at risk of suicide. Legros adds they have done a number of workshops across Northwestern Ontario, and that the sessions usually last about two-days. There is no set date, as they are scheduled as needed. The sessions are open to everyone, and for more information contact District Mental Health Services for Older Adults Program at 807-274-9400 or 1-888-813-6503.
