Atikokan Animal Control Bylaw Altered

Atikokan Council has modified the Town’s Animal Control Bylaw however Mayor Dennis Brown says it still doesn’t go far enough.
Brown says the old rules had several flaws and didn’t keep residents completely safe from vicious pets.
Brown says the bylaw now allows officials to take action before a vicious dog attacks.
He notes they have had some recent incidents of aggressive dogs prompting complaints.
Atikokan is also supporting a Provincial plan to ban pit bulls.
Brown says the Town will not wait for the Liberal Government to act and they will continue to fine-tune their bylaw.
The City of Dryden has made no plans on changing its current bylaw which is in the hands of the SPCA and Chief of Police.
No recent problems with vicious dogs have been reported.
