The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board says they want to see the regulations before taking any action on a ban of junk food in Elementary Schools.
Last week, Ontario’s Education Minister indicated he wanted to implement a total ban on unhealthy snacks.
Director of Education Janet Wilkenson says there are numerous issues to consider before bringing in a total ban.
Wilkenson notes it’s up to each School Council to decide what kind of food is available to children.
She adds most schools have already banned soft drinks in vending machines and are moving away from other forms of junk food.
