Atikokan Begins Budget Process

A recent arbitrator’s award for Land Ambulance workers has caught the attention of the Town of Atikokan.
Staff have started the process of formulating a budget and are facing
added costs from outside agencies.
Mayor Dennis Brown says the next course of action taken by the District
Services Board will impact the final budget.
Brown hints a 5% hike from DSAB would be manageable.
As far as the budget, Brown says right now they are looking at a ball park figure of $500,000 for capital projects.
He adds he won’t settle for a tax hike anywhere above 4%.
