Atikokan officials are scrapping a downtown renewal study that was
drafted in 1994 and creating a new and improved plan.
$18,000 in FedNor funding will allow the town to
look at redevelopment opportunities.
Mayor Dennis Brown says a number of options are being looked at including
creating mini-parks, adding green spaces and sprucing up the east and west entranceways.
Brown says the study will look at ways to position the Town as the
Canoeing Capital of Canada.
