The Town of Atikokan has set up a drop-in center at the Voyageur Mall for the 100 people who have been laid off from Atikokan Forest Products.
Mayor Dennis Brown says the Town is doing everything they can to help workers but admits the future of forestry in Northwestern Ontario is out of their hands.
Brown says they are also looking at some sort of training for laid-off workers.
Thousands have lost their jobs in the Northwest, and Dryden Mill Manager Norm Bush has warned about difficult times ahead.
Bush will address the Business community at a special meeting tomorrow night in Dryden.
