Atikokan Theft Update

6 people, believed to be from Southern Ontario, are in custody following a theft at Atikokan Newstand Friday afternoon.
Police were called after an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from an office area of the store after an employee was distracted by one or more of the suspects.
Officers in Atikokan issued an alert and the group of 6 was stopped later that day in Fort Frances.
An investigation has revealed a similar batch of thefts in several other municipalities.
The group is awaiting a court appearance and the investigation continues.
