Ontario’s Auditor General is suggesting the provincial government consider scrapping Community Care Access Centres.
It’s one of the recommendations in Bonnie Lysyk’s report on home care.
Health Minister Eric Hoskins says he endorses the auditor’s report but stopped short of saying there will be wholesale changes.
The report says there is too much duplication in the system and private companies contracted to provide home care are overstating the amount they actually spend on their patients.
Hoskins notes the report provides a road map they will use for improving the system.
He is promising to implement most of the recommendations.
