A scathing report on Ontario’s deficit numbers from the Auditor General.
The 27 page pre-election report suggests the province’s deficit will be almost twice as large as stated in the most recent budget.
PC house leader Vic Fedeli says it’s closer to $11.7-billion than the government’s figure of $6.7-billion.
Fedeli says the Wynne Liberals can’t be trusted, noting their books are off by almost 100%.
In the auditor’s report, Bonnie Lysyk says the government has understated its expenses, meaning its deficit figures are way off target.
Premier Kathleen Wynne is sticking to her guns on the specific numbers.
Wynne says her figure stands at $6.7-billion, noting she will work with the Auditor General to fix what she calls an “accounting disagreement”.
