Avalon Advanced Materials says it plans to build a processing plant for lithium ore at its Big Whopper site north of Kenora.
Company President Don Bubar says the stage one plant could cost in the area of $30 to $40 million, so they are seeking investors for the project.
He believes they can start the project within two years with partnerships and some financial backing.
Bubar notes the lithium ore needs to be processed before it can be shipped off to any potential customers.
Bubar says global demand for lithium is growing significantly with all major automobile companies planning to get into the electric vehicle market.
