Avalon Provides Update On Lithium Mine Project

Development of a lithium mine on the Big Whopper site north of Kenora could begin in the next year.

That’s according to president of Avalon Advanced Metals Don Bubar.

He says right now they are focussing on producing lithium ore for the ceramic glass industry.

“Once we’ve done a feasability study, that will give us a much better sense for the scale of the market. Then we can finalize the model, access the capital, then hopefully get it into the construction phase, maybe in a year or so.”

Bubar says initially they had looked at producing ore for the rechargeable battery industry, but are moving away from the proposal due to the cost of setting up two separate processing facilities.
