A rash of lightning caused fires has been the main cause of forest fires this Summer.
Chris Marchand is an Information Officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and he says conditions are perfect right now for those type of blazes.
These conditions consist of dry forests, low relative humidity and high winds
Marchand says they are keeping the ban on open fires in place in an attempt to avoid new starts.
Meanwhile 6 new fires sparked in the region yesterday.
There are 73 active fires in the region, 64 of which are either under observation, being held or under control.
