NDP Names Shadow Cabinet

Ontario’s NDP are naming three northern MPPs to their shadow cabinet.

Sioux Lookout’s Sol Mamakwa has earned a place on the NDP critic team.

The Kiiwetinoong MPP has been named critic of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.

The appointment makes sense given that Kenora-Rainy River representative Greg Rickford handles that portfolio.

Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Judith Monteith-Farrell has been named critic of Natural Resources and Forestry.

In all, eight northern NDP members received key critic roles from leader Andrea Horwath, full list found below:

Gilles Bisson (Timmins): House Leader
Guy Bourgouin (Mushkegowuk-James Bay): Francophone Affairs/Training, Trades and Apprenticeships
France Gelinas (Nickle Belt): Health Care/Chief Whip
Sol Mamakwa (Kiiwetinoong): Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation
Michael Mantha (Algoma-Manitoulin): Northern Development and Mines
Judith Monteith-Farrell (Thunder Bay-Atikokan): Natural Resources and Forestry
John Vanthof (Timiskaming-Cochrane): Deputy Leader/Agriculture and Food, Rural Development
Jamie West (Sudbury): Labour
