Avian Flu Effects

The trickle down effect of the Avian Flu in British Columbia is starting to be felt in this Region.
19 million chickens have been slaughtered which is starting to impact Dryden businesses that are known for their wings.
Barry Sherban is the Food Services Manager at the Riverview Lodge and says production is starting to hit its capacity which could lead to a shortage in wings.
Sherban says last year they sold almost 13,000 pounds of wings and are now paying 50 cents/pound more due to the outbreak.
He adds they may have to look at adjusting prices if the problem doesn’t fix itself.
