A northwestern Ontario First Nation is urging action on a national inquiry into missing and murdered indigenous women.
A group of about 20 people from New Osnaburgh began making the over 500 kilometre trek to Thunder Bay this weekend.
Chief Connie Gray-McKay says the idea is to honour those lost and raise awareness, but also increase pressure on government action.
She says the inquiry needs to address living conditions, available support services, and funding for their communities.
Gray-McKay says she thinks the fed’s are reluctant to launch an inquiry because it would require capital costs.
