Bad Water Leads to Cancer

The former Chief of a Northern Ontario First Nation thinks the high
rate of cancers among their Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities is directly
related to their drinking water.
Frank Beardy says cancer was unheard of 20 to 30 years ago but
aboriginals now have the highest cancer rate per capita in Canada.
Beardy was addressing an expert panel on safe drinking water in
Thunder Bay.
But a panel member, Professor Steve Hrudey says it’s unlikely the
cancers in their communities were caused by drinking water.
