Local Reaction to Forestry Merger

Although specific details surrounding future operations at the Dryden
and Ear Falls Mills are still unclear, two regional politicians are pleased
with the Domtar-Weyerhaeuser merger.
Kenora MP Roger Valley says the 2-communities can finally look at
moving on after months of speculation.
Valley believes the new Domtar and the area will become a major player on the world market.
Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton says its a refreshing change in
uncertain times.
The NDP Leader says the Province’s electricity plan is still standing in the
way of the two Mills.
Both would like to see future expansion in the two communities.
Dryden Mayor Anne Krassilowsky says months of speculation has hurt the City.
Krassilowsky says the announcement will provide a sense of stability for the Community and local business.
