Balcaen on Funding #2

The Provincial Government’s announcement of extra

funding for the Northwest Local Health Integration Network

does nothing to help the Lake of the Woods District

Hospital.

C.E.O. Marc Balcaen says they already factored in the

2.4 percent increase in base funding, and 602-thousand

dollars in wait time strategy funding.

Q:”…presentations.” 23 seconds

The hospital is still facing a 500-thousand dollar

deficit in 2008-2009 and 900-thousand dollars in 2009-2010.

Balcaen notes the only new funding announced yesterady

was for Small Hospitals such as Dryden, Riverside Health

Care in Fort Frances, Sioux Lookout and Atikokan.
