The Bank of Canada is warning thousands of jobs could be lost because of higher minimum wages across Canada.
It pegs the number at close to 60-thousand in a recent report.
It says increases in the minimum wage, such as the one in Ontario, will also drive the inflation rate up slightly.
Ontario’s minimum wage rose to 14-dollars an hour on Monday will jump another dollar in 2019.
The Bank of Canada notes about 8% of employees in Canada work at the minimum wage.
