Aaron Park will operate in 2014.
Dryden Council has agreed to continue their operating agreement with the province for another year.
Community and Development Services Manager Bob Cunningham says the decision comes after a banner year in 2013.
Aaron Park posted a surplus of $5,042.
Revenues, season passes and day passes were all up and expenses were $13,858 below budget.
Cunningham says they have next exceeded their original budget projections.
This was also the first time Aaron Park didn’t have to rely on the annual $10,000 in City funding to stay open.
Cunningham says new playground equipment and increased activity and programs at the amphitheatre helped bring more people through the gates.
The surplus will be used to off-set future costs.
The current contract with the provincial Government expires after next season.
It was roughly one year ago when Council debated closing Aaron Park for the season to help save money.
