The Kenora Police Service will be conducting a review of a bear
shooting in a residential neighborhood over the Easter weekend.
Chief Dan Jorgenson says its standard procedure to look into any
incident where an officer discharges a firearm.
Jorgenson says even though the incident made headlines across Canada,
their animal control officers rarely ever shoot bears.
He notes that once an animal is shot, then the officers
basically have the responsibility to make sure the animal is dead.
