The Ministry of Natural Resources has released its year-
end statistics for their bear wise program.
Province wide the MNR received 16-thousand calls to
their bear wise hotline.
Spokesperson Yolanta Kowalski says Northwestern Ontario
saw a slight increase in bear activity.

Kenora reported 161 bear occurances in 2007, which is
almost half of what the community saw in 2006.
Of the 16-thousand calls to the hotline, 12-thousand
required a response by the Ministry of local police.
