The Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters claim the evidence is mounting that there is a nuisance bear problem.
Spokesperson Greg Farrant is again asking the Province to look into the issue with over 6,000 calls already coming into the bear hotline.
The latest nuisance bear report comes from a Wabigoon man who opened his door last week, only to be confronted by a large bruin.
A Spokesman for the Ministry of Natural Resources says the bear population has remained stable at an estimated 100,000.
Meantime, the Animal Alliance of Canada says there are a number of reasons behind the problem.
Barry MacKay says bad weather, lack of food and expansion of human development all play a factor.
MacKay says people can learn to live with bears and the threat to humans is low.
Last month, the Government announced it would spend $900,000 on the Bear Wise Program, which supports community-based bear prevention and public education campaign’s.
