Beatrice La Brash

It is with great sadness that the family of Beatrice LaBrash announces her passing at Princess Court in the early morning of January 21, 2013.
Bea was born to Henry and Hazel (McNulty) Boyd on the Boyd family farm in Oxdrift on October 6, 1931. She had a typical farm life with hard work and getting into mischief with her siblings. The family moved into Dryden and settled in a home on Second Street. Beatty began working at the St. Regis Bag Factory manning one of the machines with her sister Hellan. Later she worked for the Dryden Paper Co. and also worked at the Tree Nursery. Bea met and married Harold LaBrash and they built a home on Park Crescent and raised their son, Grant there. Harold had his own business with heavy machinery and Bea took care of the book work and also went out to help him when a machine broke down, doing this along with her job at the mill and caring for a home. Bea loved to dance and listen to music. Bea enjoyed puttering in her garden, caring for the flowers around her yard and canning. She had a couple of dogs through the years named SeeBee. Bea was a feisty lady who enjoyed a joke and a good laugh; she had a quick smile and a great hug to match. She was an avid bowler winning a number of trophies.
Bea leaves to mourn her passing her son Grant LaBrash (Colleen) of Delta B.C., granddaughter Amy, step-children Darleen (Roger) Nordlund of Dryden, and Harvey (Debbie) LaBrash of B.C. along with their children, by 5 step great grandchildren, siblings Morris (Bev) Boyd of Winnipeg, Bert (Norma) Boyd of Dryden, Archie (friend Verna) Boyd of Sudbury, Hellan Lamarche of Dryden, Shirley Fortin of Vancouver, and Dennis (Doris) Boyd of Stony Plain, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Bea was predeceased by her parents Henry and Hazel Boyd, husband Harold in 2009, brothers Joseph, Reggie, Mervin, Grant and brother in law Al Fortin.
A graveside gathering for family and friends will take place at a later date when flowers are in bloom.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation through the Stevens Funeral Homes P.O. Box 412, Dryden ON P8N 2Z1. Condolences may be posted at www.stevensfuneralhomes.ca
At this time Hellan and the family would like to thank Dr. Dahmer for his care and compassion for Bea through the years. To Comcare, and Princess Court for their care of Bea and Stevens Funeral Home for their assistance at this difficult time.
