1936 -2013
After a lengthy illness, Bessie May Kiewning passed away on Sunday Feb 24 with her family near her. Bessie was born on December 11 1936, in Edmonton Alberta to Earl & Edna Scott. She is survived by her husband Herb, sons Paul (Carol), Ken (Shelley) and daughter Carolyn. Grandsons Scott & Isaac (Jessica) and granddaughters Gabrielle (Delaney) & Ricki-Lee (Ryan) and great-granddaughter Lyra. She is also survived by her brothers Leonard (Velma), Harold, Roland (Shirley deceased), Donald (Jennifer), and Ken (Patti deceased). She is also survived by brother-in-law Erwin (lnge) from Germany, sister-in-Iaws Helga (Gerhardt) and Daisy (Fritz) and numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grandnieces.
Bessie graduated with a degree as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Calgary, Alberta in 1956. Enroute to Toronto for a holiday, her truck broke down in Ignace and had to be towed to Dryden for repairs and then ended up staying in Dryden where she met Herb and later married him on Oct 12, 1957 in Viking, Alberta.
Bessie enjoyed her numerous hobbies of crocheting, knitting, painting and sewing to create works of art for her family members. Bessie also enjoyed spending time with Herb & family at the trappers cabin, where she enjoyed catching the biggest Walleye, picking blueberry’s and making blueberry muffins. She was also actively involved with the Seniors 55 bowling league where she was able to travel to several different locations to participate in tournaments.
She will be lovingly missed by all her family members and those that knew her.
There will be no Visitation as cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 1st, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
at Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating.
Interment of ashes will be at a later date.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice through the Dryden Community Funeral Home
