Officials with the Best Start program are waiting for Provincial
approval to launch the second phase of their childcare plan.
Local Coordinataor Barb Buffet says they are preparing to set up ‘Hub
Centres’ where parents can go for a number of services including assessments,
screening, speech and language development and nutrition workshops.
The centres will be located in Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Red Lake and
Kenora with smaller communities connected to those sites.
Buffet says it will take some time before the hubs are fully
operational as a number of community groups are involved in the program.
