It’s a new dawn for Canada Post.
Our national mail service provider is going to be phasing out door to door mail delivery for a third of Canadians who live in urban areas.
Over the next five years those people will be converted to so called community mailbox delivery.
There is no word if northern Ontario will be impacted.
As well the corporation is increasing the cost of mailing a letter to 85 cents from 63 cents starting on March 31st.
Canada Post has released a five-point plan that is expected to save the Corporation between $700-$900 million.
It also intends to create more postal outlets in retail stores and trim between 6,000-8,000 jobs, mostly through attrition.
