New Manufacturing Fund Introduced By FedNor

The federal government is creating a new fund to boost manufacturing, particularly in northern Ontario.
The Advanced Manufacturing Fund, to be delivered by FedNor, sets aside $200-million over the next five years to encourage the development of cutting-edge technologies.
FedNor Minister and Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the fund was designed to address needs identified by northern Ontario manufacturers.
He adds that the program also looks to seek collaboration between businesses and research institutions to develop innovative technologies.
Rickford says the fund will also help the forestry sector and notes two companies are already looking at becoming involved.
