Blockade Removed

After blocking the Trans-Canada Highway near Kenora for one day,
anti-logging protesters feel they’ve made their point.
Aboriginals from the Grassy Narrows reserve, joined by environmental
groups, set up a 10-metre high metal tripod on the road Thursday, forcing
traffic to divert through Kenora.
Police were on the scene all day.
They promised not to make any arrests at the site, and in
exchange, the protesters promised to dismantle the blockade at dusk.
The protesters say logging companies are clear-cutting native
lands, hurting the environment and traditions such as hunting.
