Blue-Green Algae in Area Lakes

The Northwestern Health Unit is warning residents of the appearance of a poisonous blue green algae in area lakes and rivers.
The algae is recognizable by the smell of fresh mown grass in newer blooms and rotting garbage in older blooms.
Side effects range from skin irritation to vomiting.
