The Kenora riding has a political heavyweight running for the Liberal party.
Former MP and Indian Affairs Minister Bob Nault was acclaimed Sunday as the party candidate for the riding.
Nault says he was inspired to run again after watching northern Ontario fall behind under Conservative rule.
He says the economy isn’t doing well and the unemployment rate stands at 12.6%.
Nault notes the Feds are ignoring health care issues in major communities as well as area First Nations.
He says he wants to provide more support for the north and notes FedNor isn’t creating new funding for the region.
Nault will face off with current Natural Resources minister Greg Rickford.
The NDP have not yet named a candidate but former Ontario NDP leader Howard Hampton is nominated for the position.
