Kenora MP Bob Nault has embarked on a ten day Asian tour.
The Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee is leading an all-party delegation, with meetings in Beijing, Hong Kong, Hanoi and Jakarta.
Nault says the purpose of the trip is to gain a first-hand perspective on the economic, political and security situations in Asia, and to identify areas where Canada can deepen its relations in the region.
The group will also talk trade and human rights with government, business and legal experts.
The trip started on Sunday.
