Bob Rae Addresses Request In Dryden

Federal interim Liberal leader Bob Rae says he’s interested in a request from northern Chiefs to become the lead negotiator for the Ring of Fire.
Rae says he’s very honoured by their request but notes unanswered questions remain.
He says he doesn’t think the process between First Nations and the Ontario Government is very well defined yet.
Rae notes once that happens he will have a better idea of what they are asking him to do.
Rae says says he’s still looking into the legality of representing area First Nations.
He notes he’s already been in contact with Chiefs about the need to move forward with this project.
Rae says he’s interested because he would like to see more growth in the region.
Rae is in Dryden as part of a northern tour.
Rae is about to drop the puck at a Northern Bands Hockey game at the Memorial Arena.
He will then speak at a lucheon and will tour the Native Friendship Centre.
The day ends in Kenora with a dinner and fundraiser.
