The OPP say they have made a positive identification on some human bones found northwest of Kenora near Malachi Lake.
With the assistance of the Northwest Region Forensic Identification Unit, police say they have been able to confirm the remains belong to a 51-year-old Winnipeg man.
Joseph Marcel Belzil disappeared on May 21, 1994 while boating on the lake.
His boat was found on Malachi Lake, but an extensive search failed to turn up any sign of the missing man.
At the time, police had presumed that Belzil had drowned in the lake.
Foul play is not suspected.
