Bombardier In Thunder Bay Not Responsible For Recall

Unifor says the Bombardier plant in Thunder Bay had nothing to do with the recall of 67-Toronto streetcars.

The cars were built in the Lakehead, but welding was done in Mexico, and that’s the identified problem in the recall.

Union official Dominic Pasqualino says the latest development is disappointing but notes they have little control over the situation.

Pasqualino says everyone at the Thunder Bay plant worked hard to meet the deadline and for their part they were successful.

He notes they have dealt with issues in Mexico in the past and they would have welcomed the task of carrying out the welding.

Pasqualino says the repairs will be done in Quebec and he’s anticipating a quick and successful resolution.
