“Operation Safe Border” is wrapping up its final day.
Law enforcement agenices and customs officials in Northwestern Ontario and Minnesota are stepping up enforcement on both sides of the border.
The initiative began Tuesday when U.S. Customs officers at the International Falls entry arrested a man in relation to smuggling activities involving illegal narcotics into the U.S.
As well, a citizen of Mexico who was in the United States illegally was arrested after being refused entry into Canada.
The man will be returned to Mexico.
