Boshcoff feels land claim will benefit region

Members of the Rainy River First Nations are optimistic about their future following the formal signing of an historic land claim agreement.

Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Ken Boshcoff notes although the settlement with Canada and Ontario was a long time in the making, he feels relationships have already improved.

Rainy River First Nations Chief Al Hunter believes the 71 million dollar settlement will help spur economic development which will benefit the entire district.

More than 18-thousand hectares of land is part of the agreement, some of which will be sold on a willing-buyer/willing-seller basis over the next 40 years.
