More money is required to help remote First Nation residents retain
their jobs in area communities.
Federal Minister of Human Resources Development Claudette Bradshaw
says aboriginals face a number of literacy problems when entering the work
force.
She adds because of a lack of education they may feel uncomfortable in
their job and simply quit.
Bradshaw is also suggesting first nations bring in role models from
various jobs to inspire native youth.
She adds she will be speaking with Cabinet to ask for more
funding for temporary housing and literacy programs.
She notes it’s terrible that the 26-literacy groups in the Region
only have a budget of less than a million dollars.
