Sioux Lookout’s Brandon Stanley has committed to playing hockey in the NCAA.
The 20-year-old has signed to suit up with the Division one team Niagara University in the Fall.
Stanley was fifth on the Philadelphia Rebels, of the North American Hockey League, this past season with 18-goals and 14-assist.
He led the team in playoff scoring with nine points.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound forward was also a member of the NAHL’s Top Prospect Tournament this past February.
Stanley says he’s extremely thankful to his parents and all of his coaches and teammates who have helped him get to where he is going.
Rebels Coach Joe Coombs says with more maturity and consistency, Stanley should have the opportunity to play past college.
Niagara University is located in Niagara Falls, New York.
The Purple Eagles are coached by Jason Lammers and had a record of 11-22-3 this past season.
