Bruce Hyer Introduces Private Members Bill

A northwestern Ontario Independent MP wants to put an end to motions of confidence in Parliament.
Bruce Hyer has introduced a private members bill aimed to restrict the Prime Minister’s ability to declare any issue a matter of confidence.
Hyer says it will improve democracy and the working in the House of Commons and adds it will bring a more consensus style of government.
He says right now the government is run by “fear and ambush”.
Hyer adds the bill would force the government to obey their fixed date law and eliminate minority governments playing “chicken with legislation”.
Hyer hopes to get support from the opposition parties.
