A Ministry of Natural Resources proposal to reduce daily catch limits from four walleye to two for non-resident anglers will hurt camp owners.
So says Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell.
Speaking in the Legislature, Campbell stated the MNR is designed to prevent fish stocks from diminishing and they have clearly failed to do so.
Campbell says the reduction will force some tourist camps to close and is urging the government to review its decision.
Campbell stresses the proposed reduction in fish limits added with the closure of Travel Information Centre’s is killing tourism in the area.
She calls the decisions a slap in the face to northerners and the tourism industry.
