Former Dryden area Gunsmith Bruce Montague has been found guilty on
26-firearms licensing charges.
The 12-member jury in the criminal trial rendered their verdict
Thursday afternoon and found Montague not guilty on 27-other charges, mostly dealing with the improper storage of dynamite and weapons dangerous to the public peace.
Defense Lawyer Doug Christie says there are minimum penalties of a
year in jail for some of the counts Montague was convicted of.
However, Christie says he will be pushing for a conditional sentence with no jail time.
Bruce’s wife, Donna, was found guilty on 1-charge relating to the
possession of a firearm without a license.
Sentencing will be held in Kenora Court on March 17th.
Christie plans on taking the verdict to the Ontario Court of Appeal.
