Budget Calls for Year Extension for Gun Owners

Gun owners are getting another year of ‘stay out of jail’ free cards.
The Federal Budget provides $21-million to extend the existing waiver of gun registry license fees until May 2012.
The Conservative Government has always disliked the long-gun registry for rifles and shotguns.
A private member’s bill in the House of Commons fell just short of killing the registry last fall.
The funding announcement in the budget is void however if the the opposition parties vote against the fiscal document which would trigger an election.
