Busy Off-Season For Northwest Catholic School Board

Kids are now getting settled into their classroom and the Northwest Catholic District School Board is prepared for the new school year.

Director of Education Brendan Hyatt says a lot of work was carried out over the summer in preparation.

Capital upgrades include new playground equipment for Sacred Heart.

Other projects at the Sioux Lookout school include a new PA system, a double portable was purchased to provide additional classroom space, a new sidewalk was installed for the “Kiss and Ride” and an extension to the parking lot was paved.

At St. Joseph’s in Dryden, the board completed a gym roof replacement and installed a new PA system.

In terms of student learning, Hyatt says they already have plans in place for PD days this month to support student learning, teacher engagement and math.

Hyatt notes they will once again focus on Catholic faith formation.
