It’s election day in Sudbury as voters in that city head to the polls in a provincial byelection.
The campaign took on a new dimension when a federal NDP member became the provincial Liberal candidate. It became ugly when a rejected Liberal hopeful accused the party of some unfair tactics in order to keep him from seeking the party nomination.
Lakehead University Professor Laure Paquette says it appears to be a race between the NDP and the Liberals with both side bringing out some big names to campaign including party leaders Thomas Mulcair and Kathleen Wynne.
She says none of this makes the outcome predictable, but it has made an otherwise inconsequential race a fascinating one.
