Dryden Police Chief Doug Palson says we continue to live in a very safe community.
Palson says there’s no cause for concern regarding a major spike in calls for service.
Dryden Police received 8,120 calls in 2017, up from 6,391 in 2016 and 5,595 in 2015.
Palson notes 20% of the calls are related to crime, while 80% deal with social, mental health or drug abuse.
Areas of concern for police include mischief, break and enter’s and failing to comply with an order.
Officers investigated 58 break and enter’s in 2017, up from 48 the year prior.
Palson notes it’s very small number of people committing the B&E’s and they are aware of them.
He adds in some cases, they are moving in and out of town, making it difficult to keep track of their movement.
