Canada Bans Lithium Batteries As Air Cargo

The Ministry of Transport is banning the transportation of lithium metal batteries as cargo on passenger flights in Canada.

The main concern is that, if ignited, they can cause any nearby batteries to overheat and catch fire as well.

Most passenger airlines in Canada have already voluntarily banned lithium metal batteries as cargo.

The prohibition comes into effect Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government is announcing new tax cuts for area families.

Families that have kids under the age of 18 will benefit from tax cuts and increased benefits, such as the universal child care benefit, the child care expense deduction and the family tax cut.

Those benefits saw increases and expansion in their programs.
