The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is calling on Canada Post to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a new agreement.
It comes after Canada Post proposed a “cooling-off” period effective immediately and lasting through January 31st, followed by binding arbitration if no settlement is reached by then.
The union says they will not accept both requests.
The Press Secretary for Labour Minister Patty Hajdu says they continue to urge both parties to reach a deal in order to reduce the impact on Canadians, businesses, Canada Post and their workers.
Businesses have been calling for back-to-work legislation.
Meantime, rotating strikes will continue in various parts of the country.
